About Crewed Catamaran SAILFISH
SAILFISH is a Knynsa 480 catamaran based in Male, offering intimate access to the Indian Ocean's most prized dive sites and anchorages. Built in 2009, this crewed vessel accommodates up to eight guests across four double cabins, each with large windows framing unobstructed ocean views. The layout balances privacy with social space: two cabins feature ensuite facilities, whilst two share dedicated bathrooms.
The saloon serves as the social hub, with a well-stocked bar, formal dining area, and adjacent sun decks ideal for morning coffee or evening aperitifs. Below deck, practical systems ensure self-sufficient cruising: a water maker, generator, and onboard dive compressor mean you remain independent even when anchored remotely. The crew consists of experienced Maldivian captain and chef, both steeped in local knowledge and hospitality traditions.
Full board cuisine features international menus prepared fresh daily, with three meals and light snacks included. The charter covers snorkelling equipment, dinghy with outboard, recreational fishing kit, and kayak access. Dive packages (including equipment and certification) are available as optional extras, with dive master hire available upon request. This is an ideal platform for multi-day diving expeditions or island-hopping between Maldives and Seychelles.
Highlights
- •Catamaran stability ideal for non-sailors and families; twin hulls provide natural motion-resistance in choppy swells
- •Onboard dive compressor eliminates daily resort commutes; execute unlimited dives from the yacht's platform
- •Knynsa 480 design combines shallow draft for atoll exploration with sufficient freeboard and cabin volume for comfort
- •Captain and crew speak fluent English; their decades-long Maldivian residency ensures authentic guidance to seasonal hotspots, fishing grounds, and cultural anchorages
The Charter Experience
A week aboard SAILFISH unfolds as a masterclass in slow travel through equatorial waters. Your Maldivian captain navigates to diving highlights inaccessible from Male resorts, selecting anchorages based on conditions and your interests rather than a fixed schedule. Mornings might begin with a shore dive at a pristine house reef; afternoons offer drift snorkelling, bottom-line fishing, or simply drifting in crystalline shallows. The chef sources fresh provisions at island stops and adapts menus to your preferences. Evenings on deck become unhurried affairs: sundowners whilst dolphins breach nearby, dinners served under stars. The crew's intimate knowledge of local reefs, seasonal fish movements, and hidden lagoons transforms this into something far deeper than a standard charter experience.
Suggested Itinerary
A typical seven-day itinerary departs Male on day one, then progresses through the atolls on a flexible course determined by weather, dive conditions, and your group's pace. Early voyages favour the northern atolls (Baa, Raa) during the dry season, with days structured around two dives, snorkelling intervals, and leisurely island picnics. You may anchor at uninhabited islands for overnight solitude, or moor near inhabited settlements for cultural encounters. Return to Male on day seven, allowing dawn dives on the final morning.
