About Crewed Sailing Yacht SOUTHERN CROSS
SOUTHERN CROSS is a steel auxiliary ketch of exceptional provenance, built in Scotland and recognised in 1962 with the Lloyd's Register Yacht of the Year Trophy. Her Bermuda rig and timeless design have made her a distinctive presence in Mediterranean waters for six decades. Originally conceived to accommodate nine guests plus owners, she now offers flexible charter options across the Spanish coast and Balearics.
The yacht accommodates up to 10 overnight guests across 5 double cabins, with additional day charter capacity for gatherings of up to 65 people. This dual functionality makes her equally suited to intimate multi-day voyages or larger corporate and social events operating from Barcelona. Her award-winning construction and auxiliary engine ensure reliable performance in varying conditions whilst retaining the character of classic sailing.
Day charters typically operate between 10am and 6pm, with extended itineraries available by arrangement. Spanish VAT applies to all charter fees.

The Charter Experience
Sailing from Barcelona into the Costa Brava and Balearic islands aboard a recognised classic, SOUTHERN CROSS combines the authenticity of traditional seamanship with the comfort expected by discerning charterers. The open-water passages between the Spanish mainland and islands reveal dramatic coastal geology, hidden anchorages, and the region's maritime heritage. Whether hosting a seated dinner for twenty or accommodating a day party on deck, the yacht's generous proportions and distinctive silhouette create an unforgettable setting for both intimate retreats and memorable celebrations.
Suggested Itinerary
A typical week might depart Barcelona for the Balearic Islands, calling at Mallorca's sheltered coves before reaching Ibiza and Formentera. The return leg traces the Costa Brava northwards, with opportunities to anchor off Tossa de Mar and explore the medieval towns perched above the shoreline. Shorter itineraries can focus exclusively on the Catalonian coast, visiting fishing villages and natural anchorages within day-sailing range of the city.
