About Bareboat Catamaran Fountaine Pajot Astrea 42

The Fountaine Pajot Astrea 42 represents contemporary French catamaran design built for both capability and comfort. Launched in 2020, this sailing catamaran accommodates up to ten guests across four generous double cabins and two single berths, with four en-suite heads throughout. Her hull form and rig were developed collaboratively with Berret-Raccoupeau Yacht Designers to balance performance under sail with leisurely cruising.

The open layout prioritises natural light and ventilation. The coachroof helm station features a double crew seat and integrated sun lounger, while the foredeck offers extensive sun-pads and bow trampolines for relaxation between anchorages. Simplistic rigging with lines led back to the helm reduces physical demand and allows confident handling by smaller crews.

Systems include autopilot, solar charging, self-tailing winches, VHF, cabin fans, and saloon audio connectivity. A swim ladder and bimini provide essential deck facilities. Water toys including kayaks, paddleboards, and fishing gear are available for charter hire.

Highlights

  • Fountaine Pajot craftsmanship since 1976, now with optional Eco Concept emissions reduction
  • Four double cabins plus two single berths with individual heads for each pair of guests
  • Self-tailing winches and simplified rig for confident bareboat operation
  • Full sun-deck with foredeck pads, helm lounger, and bow trampolines

The Charter Experience

Bareboat charters from Scrub Island position you at the heart of the British Virgin Islands. This configuration suits experienced sailors seeking autonomy amongst the archipelago's steady trade winds and protected anchorages. The Astrea 42's responsive performance and spacious deck layout reward active sailing, whilst her cabin accommodation and galley facilities support extended coastal exploration without compromise.

Suggested Itinerary

From Scrub Island, typical itineraries embrace the Sir Francis Drake Channel and Anegada approaches. Sailing days might include Jost Van Dyke, Great Harbour's anchorage, and the shallow turquoise bays of Virgin Gorda. Established yacht stops such as The Bight at Norman Island and Manchioneel Bay provide consistent conditions for both relaxed sailing and secure overnight anchorage.
