About Bareboat Sailing Yacht Bavaria 45
The Bavaria 45 Cruiser represents a step change in bareboat sailing design. Developed in collaboration with Farr Yacht Design and BMW Group Designworks USA, this yacht combines competitive sailing performance with the interior volume and comfort expected of a modern charter vessel. Twin rudders, dual steering positions, and a generously proportioned cockpit define the exterior, whilst the interior prioritises natural light, ventilation, and liveable cabin space for extended cruising.
Accommodating up to ten guests across four cabins, this is a yacht suited to families and groups seeking self-skippered sailing rather than crewed luxury. The specification balances practicality with refinement: electric windlass, autopilot, GPS chartplotter, and bow thruster reduce fatigue during passage work, whilst onboard WiFi, hot water system, and cockpit shower attend to creature comforts. A roll mainsail and sprayhood make sail handling intuitive, and the lowering transom platform simplifies tender operations.
Highlights
- •Dual steering stations and twin rudders engineered for responsive handling in varying sea states
- •Spacious interior with four well-appointed cabins, each with private heads and shower facilities
- •Integrated navigation suite including GPS, autopilot, and wind/speed/depth instrumentation
- •Practical amenities: electric windlass, bow thruster, 12V refrigeration, shore power, and onboard WiFi connectivity
The Charter Experience
Croatia's Adriatic offers variable conditions and protected anchorages ideal for bareboat sailing. The region rewards methodical passage planning, with consistent summer thermals, numerous island bases, and shelter from the notorious Bora wind. Charter from Trogir positions you within the central Dalmatian islands, a concentration of medieval towns, secluded coves, and well-provisioned marina facilities. Whether targeting the Pakleni Islands south of Hvar, the Elaphiti archipelago near Dubrovnik, or the Vis channel to the west, you have flexibility to respond to conditions and crew preference.
Suggested Itinerary
A typical week might begin with a coastal passage to Hvar, allowing acclimatisation to the vessel and provisioning at the main town. Explore the sheltered Pakleni Islands to the south, then work eastward toward Vis, known for deeper anchorages and fewer charter boats. If conditions favour, the Elaphiti chain north of Dubrovnik offers cultural immersion and reliable overnight stops. Return to Trogir via the lee of Brac, allowing a final overnight anchorage before Saturday morning departure.
